Education provides opportunities to improve the quality of intellectual, social, economic, and personal well-being. Harrison County has an array of educational opportunities that are offered to all ages and all areas of interest.

Harrison County has five public school districts with over 50 schools that have all been classified as successful, exemplary and superior performing schools. There are many special subject areas being taught in culture, the arts and technology. The teachers in Harrison County are held to a high standard and are committed to students and learning. Many of the teachers are either “Highly Qualified” or National Board Certified. As well as the public schools, there are 18 private schools along the coast and a number of home school groups and programs.

There are many Higher Education facilities in Harrison County including the University of Southern Mississippi – Gulf Park campus, William Carey University, Tulane University School of Continuing Studies, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), Virginia College Gulf Coast, and the Center for Higher Learning at NASA, located at Stennis Space Center. A wide range of studies, degrees, and continuing education programs are offered through these facilities.
