Triton – A Lucrative Asset for the Coast

One of the Coast’s most successful “home-grown” companies is Triton Systems, Inc., a leading producer of ATM machines.  As a world leader in the manufacture of automated teller machines, Triton maintains a formidable presence in the fields of innovation, technology and the financial industry.

Bill Johnson is the current CEO of Triton, and oversees the company and all its operations from Triton’s headquarters in Long Beach, Mississippi. Clients of Triton include Exxon, General Electric, Magnavox and the U.S. Navy.

Since its founding in 1979, Triton Systems has established over 158,000 installations in over 24 countries and 1,800 financial institutions worldwide, making it the largest retail-ATM provider in North America, and fourth largest manufacturer worldwide.  From stand-alone machines to wall installations, a Triton ATM has the ability to serve any architectural design.

Triton’s breakthrough came in 1994 when they introduced the Triton 9500 – a new version of an ATM that could be installed anywhere, not just financial institutions.  Not only was this a boost in sales for Triton, but the Triton 9500 was also a boost to consumers and retail outlets everywhere.  The ability to withdraw cash on demand from a non-bank location revolutionized consumerism and, as a result, the future of the automated teller machine.

In 2000, Triton was acquired by the Dover Corporation, which owns several companies that span the markets of electronics, engineering systems, fluid management and industrial products.  Dover’s purchase of Triton was based on Triton’s impressive history of maintaining high product quality and innovation standards, their excellent customer service reputation and a successful management style.

With two locations in Long Beach to accommodate both administrative employees and manufacturing capabilities, Triton continues to be a key employer along the Gulf Coast. The majority of Triton’s approximately 400 employees are located at the two local facilities, and all of Triton’s ATM machines are built at their 88,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Long Beach.
