D’Iberville Welcomes Target and More

Target, PetSmart, Marshalls Department Store and Best Buy are among the retailers that are taking advantage of the easy accessibility and great visibility of the intersection of interstates 10 and 110 in D’Iberville, Mississippi.  These retailers, along with national eateries Red Lobster and Olive Garden, will soon gather in The Promenade, a 700,000 square-foot shopping center which broke ground in the city in July of this year.

Once primarily a bedroom community for employees of nearby casinos and Keesler Air Force Base, D’Iberville has become a major contender for retail development.   Wal-Mart, Lowe’s and numerous other retailers and restaurants, located in the northeast quadrant of the I-10/I-110 intersection, have already transformed the 7.1 square-mile city into a popular destination for shoppers.   Entertainment venues, including an existing movie theatre and future bowling alley and Kangarooz indoor play area, are also located in the area; and a Courtyard by Marriott hotel is under construction within walking distance.

The Promenade is to the northwest of the interstate intersection.  At the groundbreaking of the shopping center, the developers, CBL & Associates Properties Inc. of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Forum Development Group from Atlanta, said there would be 11 anchor stores and more than 80,000 square feet of specialty shops and restaurants.  Since then, plans have been filed with the City of D’Iberville for a 125,000 square-foot Target, a Dick’s Sporting Goods, PetSmart,  Marshalls Department Store, Michaels Arts and Crafts Store, Best Buy and Kohl’s Department Store.  The grand opening for The Promenade is tentatively set for fall 2009.
