New Coast Hotels Provide Proximity to Airport

Just across the highway from the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, two new hotels have just opened, catering to tourists, business travelers and airline crews.  The Residence Inn – Marriott and the Hilton Garden Inn, Gulfport Airport, have added new accommodations to the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s room inventory of over 11,000.

Following Hurricane Katrina, functional hotel rooms in South Mississippi had fallen from 17,000 to 2,000.  Today, just three years later, the hotel room inventory continues to make a strong recovery, keeping up with the rest of the Gulf Coast and the demand from strong tourism and gaming industries.  Many of the 11 casinos on the Coast also have their own resort accommodations, including comfortable rooms, lavish spas, large swimming pools, fine dining and championship golf courses.

But, the Residence Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn provide something the others don’t – they are within walking distance of the international airport.  With the airport’s recent $100 million expansion and renovation, the hotels are a great amenity to the growing facility.  They house the airline crews from the continually expanding flights of the airport.  Plus, they are a great convenience to business travelers who fly in for a meeting and need to quickly fly out.

With the addition of the Residence Inn-Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn, travelers can enjoy the convenience and luxury of a good night’s sleep and great service, while taking advantage of everything the Mississippi Gulf Coast community has to offer.
