Improving Quality of Life for Residents

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Retiree Partnership held the 1st Annual Harrison County Senior Prom, “We’ve Only Just Begun,” on November 8, 2007 to celebrate the spirit of community and life. And due to its overwhelming success, the event will be held again in 2008.

Hosted and co-sponsored by the IP Casino Resort & Spa for more than 700 area residents who had celebrated 50 or more birthdays, the unforgettable evening in 2007 featured music, food and fun compliments of many sponsors including Biloxi Regional Medical Center, United States Marine, Inc., Memorial Hospital and Grand Biloxi. Dancing was to the music of the William Sackett Swing Orchestra, and the event also included complimentary guest photos, the crowning of a king and queen and a $1,000 Visa gift card grand prize.

The Retiree Partnership, under the auspices of the Harrison County Development Commission, works with the State of Mississippi’s official retiree attraction program, Hometown Mississippi Retirement. Since 1995, the Retiree Partnership and its volunteers, known as Hometown Ambassadors, have marketed the Gulf Coast — one of the state’s 21 Certified Retirement Communities — as a retirement destination.

As part of the organization’s effort to enhance the quality of life for retirees, the Retiree Partnership organizes special events geared toward thanking those who have contributed in so many priceless ways to the unique fabric of life shared on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The 2nd Annual Senior Prom will again be presented by the Retiree Partnership with host sponsor IP Casino Resort & Spa. It will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2008.
