Mississippi golf courses receive honors in Golf Digest magazine

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) Division of Tourism today announces that 10 courses in the state have been voted to Golf Digest magazine’s biennial ranking of “America’s Greatest Courses State by State 2009-10.”

Metal Tech, Inc. Continues Its Success

Metal Tech, Inc., a South Mississippi company specializing in the manufacture of state-of-the-art fabricated parts and machines, was opened in 1999 by Mike Funk as an offshoot of his father Charlie’s company, Metal Parts. Together with his brother, Karl Funk, and third partner, Jeff Mattina, Mike Funk has seen Metal Parts grow to over 50 employees, with a record year in 2008.

Six companies – AGJ Systems & Networks, Covington & Associates, Drace Construction, Gulf Coast Doors, Gulf Coast Modular Homes, and Stumph & Associates – celebrated their move from the facility and into the community.

Boat Races Bring Big Crowds

Brightly colored boats, roaring engines and hovering helicopters drew the crowds to Biloxi, Mississippi once again for Smokin’ the Sound, the first race of 2009 for the Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing Association. And this year, racing excitement continued for a second weekend with Smokin’ the Lake, drag boat racing on Gulfport Lake.
