The Harrison County Development Commission (HCDC) was recently recognized at the American Advertising Federation’s Mississippi Gulf Coast 2008 Addy Awards with a Silver Addy for its “Yes” brochure, designed by The Prime Time Agency.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) Division of Tourism announces that five acclaimed courses in the state have been voted onto Golfweek’s “America’s Best Course You Can Play” by state for 2009.
On February 4, 2009, Gulf Ship launched four new, true tractor tugs into the Bernard Bayou Industrial Canal in Gulfport, Mississippi. Each tugboat weighs approximately 700 tons, is 110 feet in length, and takes 12 months to construct. The entire phase of construction – from design to steel cutting to launch – is done within the walls of Gulf Ship, keeping with the philosophy of parent company Edison Chouest Offshore to “design, build, own and operate” all of their boats in-house.
Today in the City of Gulfport on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the largest façade grant program in the nation’s history, a $4.425 million project, and a $7.6 million streetscape project are providing the downtown area a dramatic makeover and preparing it for a future of continued growth.
From a couple of employees and a single brand of beer brewed in New Orleans, F.E.B. Distributing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast has grown to 100 employees and now sells and delivers almost all of the top national brands in the United States, as well as many of the smaller microbrews that are now so popular. Add to that over 50 of the World’s top imported beers.
This year marked the 10th anniversary of the Gulf Coast Winter Classics, a six-week long horse show in Harrison County, Mississippi. And while participation at other winter horse shows has been down, show organizers Bob Bell and Janet McCarroll have said their numbers were up.
